Nevertheless, in this mansion of gloom I now proposed to myself a sojourn of some weeks.
Edgar A. Poe

Hello and dreary tidings to our Poe family, near and far. We hope all are sheltered safely. Despite this terrible pandemic, technology allows us to stay connected to one another. Poe Baltimore wishes to remain with you during these troubling times, and perhaps even to provide (as Poe did say) some alleviation of this malady by our presence. The Edgar Allan Poe House & Museum has temporarily closed Poe’s chamber door to visitors in the flesh (and our Price Legacy Tour has been re-scheduled) but we are working to continue programming even during this difficult time. To wit:
- The Poe House Gift Shop is open and ready to ship to you and anyone else in your socially distanced circle. Donate here!
- Poe House is offering FREE web conferences and remote house tours for students, homeschool groups and book clubs of up to ten people per session.
- Call for entries for the Saturday Visiter Awards and The Death of a Beautiful Woman flash-fiction and poetry series continue.
- More digital content and web offerings coming soon!
Outlook may be bleak, but sad days are no stranger to those who love Poe. We are working now to keep Poe’s chamber door open to you, even if only online. Please be safe, our dearest Poe friends.
Yours in Poe,
Enrica Jang

To preserve public safety in response to COVID-19 (aka Corona Virus), and by order of the State of Maryland, The Edgar Allan Poe House & Museum mirrors State and City Government protocols. To that end, Poe House is CLOSED to visitors for the month of April.
Poe Baltimore is offering free remote tours via web to students and homeschool groups, as well as book clubs. Please click here for more details and to reserve a tour time.
We ask for your patience during this time. We will update the website and social media if we learn that circumstances change. Please check PoeBaltimore.org before visiting Poe House.
We continue to monitor www.cdc.gov, www.maryland.gov, and baltimorecity.gov for guidance. Poe Baltimore programming work continues; there are no other schedule changes or canceled events at this time. Thank you for supporting Poe Baltimore/ The Edgar Allan Poe House & Museum.
