City of Baltimore Code Red Extreme Heat Advisory weekend 7/19 – 7/21

***UPDATE: Poe House will be closed on Sunday, 7/21/2019, as our A/C units are unable to overcome the extreme heat. We are sorry to miss visitors this weekend. Poe House will re-open for regular museum hours, Thursday 7/25/2019, once the Code Red has been lifted. ***

The City of Baltimore has issued a Code Red Extreme Heat Advisory for the weekend of 7/19 thru 7/21. Due to the advisory, Poe House staff will monitor the heat situation and, if temperatures climb beyond our ability to mitigate indoors, to close early if necessary. If we remain open, we advise all guests to arrive as early as possible (we open at 11AM) to avoid the most oppressive afternoon temperatures. We must also limit the number of people within Poe House at any one time to ensure the safety of all. There may be a wait time to enter the front door.

The safety of guests and staff are paramount. Please heed all extreme heat safety measures. Please be patient with staff and respect house rules and staff instructions as you wait to enter. Poe House is a precious and historic site.
