Honoring Poe’s 209th Birthday
About this event:
BEGINNING AT 6 PM, Poe fans will gather at the cemetery for a free, LIVE toast to Edgar on his 209th birthday! IMMEDIATELY AFTER the tribute is read, those in attendance will raise their glasses in an apple cider Toast to Poe provided by Poe Baltimore.
THIS EVENT IS FREE to attendees, with toast cups and non-alcoholic cider to be provided. The event will also be streamed via facebook live on the Poe Baltimore and Poe: Evermore Facebook pages.
SPEAKERS will include:
Jeff Jerome, founder of Edgar Allan Poe: Evermore and Poe House curator emeritus.
Enrica Jang, Executive Director of Poe Baltimore and The Edgar Allan Poe House & Museum.
James Smolinksi, PRESIDENT of Poe Baltimore, who will read a Toast to Poe written by Jeff Savoye of the Poe Society and Board member of Poe Baltimore.
THOSE IN ATTENDANCE will want to linger among the dead at the conclusion of this event to witness the arrival of the mysterious Poe Toaster who will be making his annual nighttime visit to the Poe Monument at 7 PM.
GATES WILL OPEN AT 5:30 PM. On street parking is available beginning at 6 PM. The Baltimore Grand Parking Garage located on Paca Street is also available for parking.
POE BALTIMORE was created to fund, maintain and interpret The Edgar Allan Poe House and Museum, and to celebrate the legacy of one of Baltimore’s most famous residents.
JEFF JEROME, curator emeritus, formerly with the Poe House has been celebrating Poe’s life since 1976 and welcomes the opportunity to join Poe Baltimore in honoring the memory of a literary giant, Edgar Allan Poe.
