Halloween Night Encore & Seance! E.A. Poe Funeral Re-enactment and Candle Vigil
About this event:
Join Poe Baltimore for a special encore presentation and séance at Carroll Mansion, Halloween Night, October 31!
October 6 & 7th was “Death weekend” in Baltimore, commemorating the 169th anniversary of Edgar Allan Poe’s mysterious death in 1849. This interactive art installation at the historic Carroll Mansion features a full-size coffin and Poe’s body as part of a special re-enactment of the dark and somber day Poe was laid to rest. Join us Halloween Night for an encore presentation of the funeral re-enactment, then commune with the spirits during a special séance and dramatic reading of Edgar Allan Poe works presented by performers from the soon-to-be-established National Edgar Allan Poe Theater! Afterwards, pay your respects at a special candle-light vigil for the master of horror and mystery.
Your admission includes the funeral re-enactment, candle-light vigil, photography and painting exhibit, as well as the séance and dramatic reading/performance. Poe-themed vendors, RavenBeer and modest concessions will be on offer. Costumes encouraged!
Ticket holders enter the historic Carroll Mansion at 800 E. Lombard Street at 7PM. NOTE: Death and funeral imagery (including body in an open casket), may not be suitable for young children. Viewer discretion advised. Carroll Mansion is not handicap accessible past the first story.
The exhibit is presented by Jericho Vinegar Works et. al. in cooperation with Poe Baltimore and Carroll Museums. This event was made possible by a grant from the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority and The Baltimore National Heritage Area.
