Attention reading lovers: Poe House’s popular Poe & Poets live poetry readings have expanded to include prose authors! Introducing a new author series from Poe Baltimore in partnership with Maryland Writers’ Association: Poe House Presents. Join us the second Sunday of each month as we welcome a new author for a reading of selected Poe stories/poems and an excerpt of their written work.


Author/illustrator, Gareth Hinds will read from Poe’s short story, “The Cask of Amontillado,” then share pages from his graphic novel adaptation of The Iliad.

Gareth is a NY Times bestselling author and illustrator of critically-acclaimed graphic novels based on the classics, including Beowulf, The Odyssey, and most recently, The Iliad. His graphic novel POE: Stories and Poems got rave reviews from such venues as The Wall Street Journal. Gareth is a recipient of the Boston Public Library’s “Literary Lights for Children” award, and his books are excerpted in textbooks and used in English classrooms across the country.

Space is limited so please arrive just before 2PM. This event is included with the price of admission to Poe House. Please note: The House is small with tight winding staircases and may not be suitable for all visitors.
