Poe House Presents: Jay Hall Carpenter
About this event:
Attention reading lovers: Poe House’s popular Poe & Poets live poetry readings have expanded to include prose authors! Introducing a new author series from Poe Baltimore in partnership with Maryland Writers’ Association: Poe House Presents. Join us the second Sunday of each month as we welcome a new author for a reading of selected Poe stories/poems and an excerpt of their written work.
Author/poet/artist, Jay Hall Carpenter, is our featured reader Sunday, June 9th. He will read from Poe’s short story, “Hop Frog,” then share poems from his own collection, Dark & Light.
Jay has been a professional artist for over 40 years, beginning as a sculptor for the Washington National Cathedral, and winning numerous national awards for his work. His first poetry collection, Dark & Light, was followed by 101 Limericks, Inappropriate For All Occasions, and he is working on a third, as yet untitled, collection. He has written poetry, plays, and children’s books throughout his career and now sculpts and writes in Silver Spring, MD. JayHallCarpenter.com
