Events > 2019 > September > Poe House Presents: Open Reading For Students

About this event:

Created by Poe Baltimore

203 N. Amity St.Baltimore, MD 21223

Attention reading lovers: Poe House’s popular Poe & Poets live poetry readings have expanded to include prose authors! Introducing a new author series from Poe Baltimore in partnership with Maryland Writers’ Association: Poe House Presents. Join us the second Sunday of each month as we welcome a new author for a reading of selected Poe stories/poems and an excerpt of their written work.

September means Back to School for Maryland students, so this month’s ‘Poe House Presents’ Author Series will open the floor to burgeoning writers!  Students 13 and older are invited to participate in a special open read of their own work,  led by Poe House Director (and author), Enrica Jang.

Enrica will begin this special session with an except from Poe’s short story, “The System of Dr. Tarr and Professor Fether.”  Students will then be permitted to share 5-minute readings from their own written work work, whether short stories, poetry, or illustrated comics.  Sign-ups will open for this session on September 1, and any remaining open spaces in the list will be filled first-come/first-serve.

Space is limited so please arrive just before 2PM. This event is included with the price of admission to Poe House. Please note: The House is small with tight winding staircases and may not be suitable for all visitors.
