The Poe House Presents reading series returns in 2020 with a new slate of Maryland authors from the Maryland Writers’ Association. Join us the second Sunday of each month as we welcome a new author for a reading of selected Poe stories/poems and an excerpt of their written work. Sign up for this and other Poe House Presents sessions at http://PoeHousePresents2020.eventbrite.com.

Jay Hall Carpenter will read poetry selections from Poe then share poems from his own collection, Dark & Light and the Written in Arlington: Poems of Arlington, Virginia anthology.

Jay has been a professional artist for over 40 years, beginning as a sculptor for the Washington National Cathedral, and winning numerous national awards for his work. His first poetry collection, Dark & Light, was followed by 101 Limericks, Inappropriate For All Occasions, and he is working on a third, as yet untitled, collection. He has written poetry, plays, and children’s books throughout his career and now sculpts and writes in Silver Spring, MD.

LIMITED SESSIONS AVAILABLE. At this time transcription and/or sign-language services are not available. Readings and tours are conducted in English.

Please note: All tours are conducted online via Zoom conferencing; Poe House itself is closed to visitors. More virtual tours of Poe House sans reading are offered weekly. Visit http://VirtualPoeHouseTour2020.eventbrite.com for tour dates and times.
