The Poe House Presents reading series returns in 2020 with a new slate of Maryland authors from the Maryland Writers’ Association. Join us the second Sunday of each month as we welcome a new author for a reading of selected Poe stories/poems and an excerpt of their written work. Sign up for this and other Poe House Presents sessions at http://PoeHousePresents2020.eventbrite.com.
Mary K. Tilghman will read from Poe’s short story, “The Oblong Box,” then share excerpts from her novel, Divided Loyalties and a short ghost story, “Who Are You?“ which is set at Poe House.
Mary is a Maryland native. She has spent 40 years writing for local newspapers and magazines. She wrote six editions of Frommer’s travel guide for Maryland and Delaware and one edition of the Insider’s Guide to Baltimore. Her first novel, Divided Loyalties, is set in Boonsboro, during the Civil War; it follows an Irish immigrant as she sacrifices family, friends and comfort to serve as a battlefield nurse. Her second novel, a prequel set in 1783 Annapolis, is finished and set for release later this year.
