The death [of] a beautiful woman is, unquestionably, the most poetical topic in the world...

Edgar Allan Poe

It's been quite the new year for Poe House already: last month we celebrated the Poe House Literary Landmark Dedication which coincided with Poe's 211th Birthday weekend. Attendees and reporters from around the world helped ring in this wonderful honor and we thank all of our Poe Baltimore supporters and volunteers, as well as the nominating partners, for their effort. Visitors to Poe House are invited to see the new plaque commemorating this event.

We're just getting started! Call for entries for the 2020 Saturday 'Visiter' Awards opened on January 19th. It's also the Year of the Woman in Maryland and "The Death of a Beautiful Woman" flash fiction and poetry series, inspired by the real or imagined loves of Edgar Allan Poe, will be a featured part of the newsletter each month. Read this month's newsletter to see submissions guidelines, and also read our first entry: an excerpt from "Who Are You?" a short story by Maryland author, Mary Tilghman. Finally, our Poe House Presents author series returned this month, with the first reading this coming Sunday with author T.C. Weber. Near or far, we hope you'll join us.

Yours in Poe,
Enrica Jang
