The City of Baltimore, the nation and the world owe a great debt of gratitude to the Edgar Allan Poe Society of Baltimore. Established in 1923 the Society has its roots in earlier organizations dating some 50 years prior. In 1938, the Society was responsible for saving and restoring Poe’s home on Amity Street in Baltimore.
